To be honest, I did not have sexual relations with said Mr. Phelps. However, in this short film a certain fellow does not have the same good fortune.
For anyone not familiar with vile, hate-filled Fred Phelps and his legion of followers, they are renowned throughout the U.S. for protesting at the funerals of gay and lesbian people, most often those that have been victims of hate crimes. In recent years, Phelps’ group has taken to protesting at the funerals of soldiers who have died in the Middle East. Their warped justifications for these protests is that, in their world, God is vehemently opposed to homosexuals and has punished America because it supports gay rights through the 9-11 attacks and later through Hurricane Katrina. Anyone in touch with the real America knows that the very idea that this country would support gay rights is ludicrous.
With regards to the film, it was done by Kansas City filmmaker Bill Pryor who’s work can be found along with many a political rant or two at RaveFilmsKC.

For many people, the name Gondry meets absolutely nothing. For the remaining few, the name represents some of the most creative filmmaking in the last twenty years. A french music video & film director known for his work with Bjork, the White Stripes, and most recently Kanye West, Michel Gondry is most well-known to American audiences as the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I bring all of this up because, personally, I think the guy is a genius. While many of his short films and music videos spotlight his focus on dreams, memories, and an almost juvenile attitude toward love and the opposite sex, the creativity displayed in every single piece he has done goes beyond what many other directors ever exhibit. And now for the exciting part: his newest film The Science of Sleep is on it’s way this September. It stars Gael Garcia Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries, Amores Perros), one of my favorite actors, and appears to be directly in line with Gondry’s previous work. This makes me happier than you could possibly imagine. The trailer is here.

A pilot produced for the WB by the writers of Scrubs and Family Guy. it’s very funny, very different, and deserves to be seen by all.
