With the LCDS, though early in development, Microsoft is showing signs of making a significant move into the eLearning and corporate training markets. While currently not a threat to full-featured Learning/Content Mangement Systems like Blackboard, Angel, etc., it’s clear that the scaffolding being placed to provide a course-creation application that may slot right into Sharepoint or a dedicated server of it’s own, in the case of academic institutions. This may be something for distance educators educational technologists to keep their eye on.
