The Break Up

Calling to mind the work of the Crayonistas, this is a fantastic spot from Microsoft. For those that aren’t familiar with my opinions of the state of the advertising industry, this spot just about nails it.
It’s clear that consumers are more empowered now then in recent history and yet the vast majority of marketers are ignoring the progressing world around them, or, in what could be considered an even more painful situation, they agree wholeheartedly that the world is changing, and in classic fashion refuse to walk the talk.
So, here’s to hoping this campaign has some sort of impact on an industry that has made such obvious moves to insulate themselves from from their own consumers. My guess is that the conversation will strengthen but that actual reaction will be minimal, which is a self-confessed cynical view but one that I can’t help but profess in this current atmosphere.
